We believe that residents have the right to be informed and actively participate in policymaking decisions. PBB makes policy accessible and participatory for historically marginalized Birmingham residents

We believe that residents know what their communities need best, and that they should have a voice in how their tax dollars are spent. PBB empowers residents to decide how to spend our local resources.
Budget Justice
We believe budgets are more than numbers—they tell us what and whom our government prioritizes. PBB advocates for a city budget that prioritizes racial, social, economic, and environmental justice, climate resiliency, and people over prisons.

- We need accessible, year-round opportunities to inform city officials about the needs in our communities.
- We need pathways for homeless, undocumented, non-English-speaking, disabled, and all other residents to share their needs.
- We deserve fair and dependable resources for Neighborhood Associations so they can better serve their neighborhoods.
- We deserve generous and long-term investments in public goods like parks, libraries, community centers, public transportation, and other public infrastructure.
- We need a government that commits to resourcing non-violent alternatives to policing and emergency response .
- We demand an end to the near-total control the Mayor has over the city budget.
- We demand city councilors regain the power to make changes to the city budget that best meet the needs of the people they represent.
- We demand that participatory budgeting be implemented so residents have direct influence and control over how the city spends their tax dollars.
